About Mueller Chocolate Co. ā Philadelphiaās Handmade Chocolates Since 1980
Our History
Mueller Chocolate Co.ās story began long before our official founding in 1980. In this photo from the 1970s, our father,Ā Glenn Mueller, donates a giant chocolate Santa to a local charity ā a tradition of craftsmanship and generosity carried through our family for generations.
Before launching Muellerās, Glenn managed Price Candy Companyās retail stores from New York to Baltimore under Charles H. Price II. At its peak, Price Candy was producing millions of pounds of chocolate annually and was later sold to Minnesota Twins owner Carl Pohlad. That experience gave our family deep roots in the candy industry.
In 1980,Ā Glenn and Theresa MuellerĀ founded Mueller Chocolate Co. together in Philadelphia, having 7 different locations before settling in the historic Reading Terminal Market. Theresa became especially known for her creativity, developing the anatomically correct chocolate heart ā a piece that brought Muellerās national fame and media attention. Alongside novelties, Muellerās has always been grounded in classics likeĀ Chocolate Covered Pretzels,Ā Truffles, andĀ Turtles. Their partnership combined grit, experience, and imagination, laying the foundation for theĀ chocolate giftsĀ we continue to share nationwide today.
